Today I’m joined by Monica Cellio, a former moderator for the site Stack Exchange. Monica was fired from her position over a disagreement about gender pronouns.
It’s a long discussion that references various posts that i’ll link below ;
‘It’s a perspective thing, we wrote it, we intended the use of stated pronouns to just be obvious there, but because we were so close to it, we didn’t realize so many wouldn’t see the same.So we added it, because it’s a disconnect.’
The new removal process, while better than what was done to me, lacks important safeguards present in the pre-existing Moderator Action Review Process.
Is one afforded a guarantee, going forward with the new Code of Conduct, that by changing one’s writing style to be pronoun free it will be compliant with the new Code of Conduct?
